Update: Now available on WordPress.org!
This plugin allows you to use the shortcode [ copyright ], which inserts a copyright symbol, the site name (linking back to the homepage), and the year. A span with the class “copyright” wraps this. I plan to develop this further, including adding an attribute to change the cited name – currently it just uses your site name.
Saves you time writing the company name and year for every build, especially if you want to use dynamic dates (and you should! :p).
[ copyright ] (with no spaces) in a page, post or text widget.
Note that to use shortcodes in widgets you’ll need to either install the plugin Shortcodes in Sidebar Widgets, or add the code below to your functions.php.
add_filter( 'widget_text', 'do_shortcode' );
You can see how this plugin looks below, or by looking at the footer of this website.
